Jerreh

Over several years, I followed Jerreh, an African migrant who made the perilous journey across the Mediterranean in a rubber boat from Libya to Italy, one of thousands who risk their lives each year in search of safety and opportunity in Europe.

Jerreh's story is emblematic of the broader African immigration experience: filled with hope, hardship, and resilience.

After surviving the crossing, he began the difficult process of building a life in Europe. Navigating bureaucratic obstacles, financial struggles, and the isolation that comes with being far from home, Jerreh continues to fight for his place in a new society. Despite everything, he remains incredibly positive, determined, and full of quiet strength.

This ongoing project sheds light on the realities of African immigration to Europe, while honoring Jerreh's journey of survival, adaptation, and dignity.
